Academic Background

Dr. D'Cunha holds both MD and PhD degrees from the Medical College of Wisconsin, where his doctoral research in microbiology/immunology explored novel immunomodulatory cytokines. His groundbreaking PhD thesis established ISG15 as a cytokine with potential applications for treating viral infections and malignancies.


His training includes postdoctoral work at the NIH, General Surgery training and Cardiothoracic Surgical Fellowship at the University of Minnesota, followed by faculty positions at the University of Minnesota and later the University of Pittsburgh, where he held multiple leadership roles before his current position.
